What’s the Difference Between VORT and CBT&A in South Australia?

When learning to drive in South Australia, you can choose between VORT (Vehicle On Road Test) or CBT&A (Competency-Based Training and Assessment) — but which is right for you?

VORT (Vehicle On Road Test)

  • Involves a one-time driving test with a government-approved examiner.
  • You must demonstrate all required driving skills in one session.
  • Perfect for confident drivers or those with prior experience.

CBT&A (Competency-Based Training & Assessment)

  • A step-by-step training system where you complete each competency over multiple lessons.
  • No final test — once all tasks are signed off, you qualify for your licence.
  • Ideal for new drivers who prefer gradual learning.

At Mr Vishram Driving School, we offer both programs so you can choose the option that best suits your comfort level and learning style.
